00:16HERMANN“Excuse me, my lady. The people you wished to speak to are here.”
00:21COUNTESS“Good, Hermann. Show them in.”
00:24HERMANN“Yes, my lady.”
00:42DOCTOR WHO“Oof!”
00:46DOCTOR WHO“I say, what a wonderful butler. He's so violent! Hello!”
00:50DOCTOR WHO“I'm called the Doctor. That's Romana, that's Duggan. You must be the Countess Scarlioni and this is clearly a delightful Louis Quinze chair. May I sit in it? I say, haven't they worn well?”
01:00DOCTOR WHO“Thank you, Hermann, that'll be all.”
01:02COUNTESS“Doctor, you're being very pleasant with me.”
01:06DOCTOR WHO“Well, I'm a very pleasant fellow.”
01:09COUNTESS“But I didn't invite you here for social reasons.”
01:11DOCTOR WHO“Yes, I could see that the moment you didn't ask me to have a dri- well, I will have a drink now you come to mention it. Yes, do come in, everybody.”
01:16DOCTOR WHO“Romana, sit down over there.”
01:19DOCTOR WHO“Duggan. Now, Duggan, you sit there.”
01:24DOCTOR WHO“Do sit down if you want to, Count- oh, all right. Now, isn't this nice?”
01:29COUNTESS“The only reason you were brought here was to explain exactly why you stole my bracelet.”
01:35DOCTOR WHO“ Ah, well, it's my job, you see. I'm a thief.”
01:38DOCTOR WHO“And this is Romana, she's my accomplice. And this is Duggan. He's the detective who's been kind enough to catch me. That's his job. You see, our two lines of work dovetail beautifully.”
01:47COUNTESS“Very interesting. I was rather under the impression that Mister Duggan was following me.”
01:48DOCTOR WHO“Yes.”
01:53DOCTOR WHO“Ah. Well, you're a beautiful woman, probably, and Duggan was trying to summon up the courage to ask you out to dinner, weren't you, Duggan?”
02:01COUNTESS“Who sent you?”
02:02DOCTOR WHO“Who sent me what?”
02:03COUNTESS“Doctor, the more you try to convince me that you're a fool, the more I'm likely to think otherwise. Now, it would only be the work of a moment to have you killed.”
02:10DOCTOR WHO“What?”
02:11COUNTESS“Put it down.”
02:13ROMANA“It's one of those puzzle boxes isn't it?”
02:14COUNTESS“Yes, it's a very rare and precious Chinese puzzle box. You won't be able to open it so put it down.”
02:24ROMANA“Hm! Oh, look!”
02:26SCARLIONI“ Yes. Very pretty, isn't it?”
02:30ROMANA“Very. Where's it from?”
02:31SCARLIONI“From? It's not from anywhere. It's mine.”
02:36COUNTESS“My dear, these are the people who stole it from me at the Louvre.”
02:40DOCTOR WHO“Hello there!”
02:42SCARLIONI“ How very curious. Two thieves enter the Louvre gallery and come out with a bracelet!”
02:48SCARLIONI“Couldn't you think of anything more interesting to steal?”
02:52DOCTOR WHO“Well, I just thought it was awfully pretty and a terribly unusual design...”
02:56DOCTOR WHO“Well, I just thought it was awfully pretty and a terribly unusual design. Of course, it would have been much nicer to have stolen one of the pictures, but I've tried that before and all sorts of alarms go off which disturbs the concentration.”
03:02SCARLIONI“*laughs* Yes, it would.”
03:03SCARLIONI“So you stole the bracelet simply because it's... pretty?”
03:08DOCTOR WHO“...yes!”
03:09DOCTOR WHO“Well, I think it is. Don't you?”
03:11SCARLIONI“...yes...”
03:12COUNTESS“My dear, I don't think he's as stupid as he seems.”
03:15SCARLIONI“My dear, nobody could be as stupid as he seems.”
03:18DOCTOR WHO“Oh...”
03:19SCARLIONI“This interview is at an end.”
03:20DOCTOR WHO“Good. Well, we'll be off. A quick stagger up the Champs Elysees, perhaps a bite at Maxims. What do you think, Romana?!”
03:24ROMANA“Maxims-”
03:25SCARLIONI“I think a rather better idea would be if Hermann were to lock you into the cellar. I should hate to lose contact with such fascinating people.”
03:30DOCTOR WHO“Ah. Duggan, what are you doing!? For heavens sake!”
03:34DOCTOR WHO“That's a Louis Quinze.”
03:36DUGGAN“But you're not going to let them lock us up-”
03:37DOCTOR WHO“Just behave like a civilised guest. I do beg your pardon, Count.”
03:40SCARLIONI“Thank you.”
03:41DOCTOR WHO“Now, Hermann, if you'd just be kind enough to show us to our cellar, we'd be terribly grateful. Do come along, my good chap.”
03:50SCARLIONI“You really should be rather more careful with your trinkets, my dear. After all, we do have a Mona Lisa to steal.”
