Eleven - The Promise is a single-voice monologue in the register of a child who has decided to protect someone and does not have the vocabulary to explain why. The trick of the pack is the fourth and fifth lines — a single rule, then a private commitment. Players who try to over-act the closing line lose coverage; the line works best delivered like a vow. Most players land the rhythm on the second pass.
